HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

I have been an entrepreneur my entire adult life. I started at 17 years old with a $300 birthday gift. I bought a sewing machine and began to teach myself how to sew in my tiny bedroom in the Bronx. Within a few short years, I and a business partner opened a boutique in Westchester where I designed custom gowns for women of all sizes utilizing Myspace to market my brand. By 2009, I was showcasing my brand during New York Fashion Week, dressing celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, and making appearances and television.

THE 6 - FIGURE VISION

In 2011, while attending a church service, a visiting pastor commanded the congregation to close their eyes and ask God for ideas. As I followed the instructions, immediately I had a vision of a dress I’d never seen before. I left the service and immediately began to work on the dress. I happened to have the fabric in the colors that I saw in the vision. Within a few days, I received an email from an associate who needed a dress for her birthday party. The dress that I made based on the vision was not only her size but her style. I loaned her the dress. Pictures of her wearing the dress went viral, catapulting my business, during a rough season into making 6 -figures that year.

I HEARD THE LORD SAY:

While thriving and prospering as a fashion designer, working with celebrities I dreamed of dressing, and being featured in magazines, and more TV shows, I heard the Lord say, “You're not a designer. You are a minister. You will help people so that they don’t go through the things that you’ve gone through.

BECOMING WHAT HE SAID

Since receiving this revelation, I went through a season of testing and tremendous growth. While facing the ups and downs of business, being an entrepreneur who learned in the field, through faith, was was being transformed from a person who defined themselves by their career and accolades, to someone who found security in their identity in Christ. becoming a wife and mother and having a family was the very thing that propelled me into manifesting what God revealed to me that I was. being a wife and mother forced me to calibrate and create structure in my business where it didi’t exist. I could no longer be focused on work, all the time, as i was accounted to in my 20’s.

In creating structure, growing in my faith in Jesus and finding work-life balance, I found that

I started my brand, D.Auxilly with a  $300 investment in a Kenmore sewing machine, and has been designing by faith ever since. Self-taught, I began making my own designs, wearing them to local parties where my designs generated interest in young women.  At age 21, I took a leap of faith and decided to drop out of college and open a boutique in Westchester, New York. There, I designed custom clothing for women of all sizes. Two years later, I relocated to Midtown Manhattan. My first collection made its debut during New York Fashion Week in September of 2009.  D. Auxilly has been seen on, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Rowland, Brandy, Tamar Braxton, Lil Kim, Eve, Letoya Luckett, and most recently, Lizzo just to name a few. My designs have also been seen in Essence, BET, E! Network, VH1, The Met Gala, and The Knot. Today, D. Auxilly currently creates bridal, eveningwear, and contemporary.
